A rich, flavorful and satisfying soup that is exceptionally easy to prepare. Prepare as directed for a meatless entrée or add a meaty ham bone and simmer for a delicious variation.

Fresno Fog Split Pea
1 package Split Pea Soup Mix
8 cups water
In a large pot, place the split pea soup mix, contents of the included spice packet and 8-10 cups of water (less water for thicker soup, more for thinner soup). Bring the mixture to a boil; continue to cook at a slow, rolling boil, partially covered for approximately 1 hour, or until the peas have reached the desired tenderness and the mixture is the desired consistency. Add more water if necessary. Salt to taste. Makes about 8-1 1/2 cup servings.
